A note on test timing

If you have regular periods, we recommend booking your test for Day 3 of your cycle for the most accurate hormone results. Day 1 is the first day of full bleeding. If your periods are irregular, test on any day and make a note of this in your health questionnaire, and your nutritionist will take it into account when interpreting your results.

If you don't have periods, or you are using hormonal contraception, you can test on any day.

If you use HRT as a gel or spray, please skip your dose on the morning of your test and take it after your blood draw. If you use a patch, we recommend testing on day 2 of your current patch. Your nutritionist will interpret your results in the context of your treatment.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

As part of the NOA Now and NOA Essentials plans, your results are reviewed by a qualified nutritionist, not a medical team. This service is for informational purposes only and does not diagnose, treat or cure medical conditions. It is your responsibility to discuss any out of range results with your GP or specialist.

The NOA Now and NOA Essentials plans are available to women aged 18 and over who are based in England, Scotland and Wales.

At present, we are unable to work with women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, within six months postpartum, undergoing cancer treatment, receiving treatment for an eating disorder or clinical depression, have kidney disease, are undergoing fertility-assisted treatment, or have had gastric band surgery. We are working on expanding our services to support you in the future.

What's included in NOA Now and NOA Essentials?

NOA Now (£299) includes:

  • A venous blood test checking 30 markers (see "What does the blood test check?")
  • A detailed NOA Health Questionnaire
  • A 45-minute 1:1 video consultation with a women's health nutritionist, who takes you through your results
  • A personalised nutrition, lifestyle and supplement plan
  • Access to your NOA members dashboard, where you can see your markers, what each one means, your plan and your progress over time

NOA Essentials (£199) includes the same blood test, questionnaire, personalised plan and members dashboard, without the consultation.

The blood draw is added at checkout: at a partner clinic (+£37) or at home with a mobile phlebotomist (+£63).

Your results are reviewed by a qualified nutritionist, not a medical team. NOA does not diagnose, treat or cure medical conditions.

What does the blood test check?

Your blood test looks at 30 markers relevant to women's energy, hormones and overall health:

  • Iron panel: iron, ferritin, TIBC, UIBC and transferrin saturation
  • Active B12
  • Serum folate
  • Vitamin D
  • Thyroid panel: TSH, free T4, free T3, total T4 and thyroid antibodies (TPO-Ab and TG-Ab)
  • Blood sugar: HbA1c
  • Liver: ALT
  • Kidney function: urea, creatinine and eGFR
  • Cholesterol: total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, non-HDL cholesterol, triglycerides and HDL as a percentage of total cholesterol
  • Female sex hormones: oestradiol, LH, FSH, SHBG and total testosterone

Your nutritionist interprets these alongside your symptoms, lifestyle and health history, rather than looking at any single number on its own.

Who can use NOA?

The NOA Now and NOA Essentials plans are available to women aged 18 and over who are based in England, Scotland and Wales.

At present, we are unable to work with women who are:

  • Pregnant
  • Breastfeeding
  • Within six months postpartum
  • Undergoing cancer treatment
  • Currently receiving treatment for an eating disorder
  • Experiencing active clinical depression or other significant mental health conditions
  • Living with kidney disease
  • Undergoing fertility-assisted treatment
  • Post gastric band surgery

If you are unsure whether NOA is right for you, please contact us before purchasing and we will be happy to guide you.

We are working on expanding our services to support more women in the future.

How is the blood test conducted?

The blood test is a venous draw, meaning a qualified healthcare professional takes your sample.

You can choose to have your blood taken:

The blood draw is an add-on to your plan, and you select your preferred option at checkout.

For at-home testing, we work with Inuvi's team of mobile phlebotomists. Once you have completed your health questionnaire, Inuvi will contact you directly to arrange a convenient date and time.

If you choose the clinic option, your test kit will be dispatched once your health questionnaire is complete, and you can then book your appointment through our partner clinics page. Please check clinic coverage before making your purchase.

If you have regular menstrual cycles, we recommend booking your test for Day 3 of your cycle. Day 1 is the first day of full menstrual bleeding. If you are using hormonal contraception, you can test on any day. If you do not have periods, you can also test on any day. If you use HRT, please see the guidance under "How do I prepare for the blood test?"

How do I book my test?

Your first step is to complete your health questionnaire. What happens next depends on the blood draw option you chose at checkout.

If you choose the clinic add-on, we will dispatch your test kit once your questionnaire is complete. You can then book your appointment through our partner clinics page once your kit arrives. You will need your NOA barcode to book, which you can find in your members portal. It starts with NOA250- followed by your unique three-digit number. Please check that you are able to access one of our partner clinics before purchasing.

If you choose the nurse visit at-home add-on, our partner Inuvi will call you once your questionnaire is complete to arrange a convenient appointment at your home or workplace.

As all NOA plans include hormone testing, you may wish to consider your cycle timing when selecting your appointment date. If you have regular periods, we recommend booking for Day 3 of your cycle. If you do not have periods, you can book for any day that suits you. If you use HRT, please see the guidance under "How do I prepare for the blood test?"

How do I prepare for the blood test?

You do not need to fast for this test.

Please ensure you are well hydrated and warm before your appointment, as this can make the blood draw easier.

Only take the test once any temporary illness has fully resolved, as infections can influence certain markers.

On the day of your test:

  • Attend before using or applying any medications where possible
  • Avoid vitamin or mineral supplements until after your blood draw
  • Check the ingredients list of any supplements you take. Biotin is found in many multi-nutrient and combination supplements, and should be avoided for at least 48 hours before your test
  • Avoid vitamin B12 supplements for at least 48 hours prior to testing
  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your test

If biotin, vitamin B12, or any other supplement has been prescribed, please check with your doctor before stopping.

If you use HRT as a gel or spray, please skip your dose on the morning of your test and take it after your blood draw. If you use a patch, we recommend testing on day 2 of your current patch.

When will I receive my results?

We aim to have everything ready within 5 working days of your sample arriving at the lab.

NOA Now: we will send you a link to book your 1:1 video consultation with one of our NOA Nutritionists, who will take you through your results. Following your consultation we will send you a copy of your test results, together with your personalised plan.

NOA Essentials: your test results and personalised plan will be added to your NOA members dashboard, and we will email you to let you know they are ready. This plan does not include a consultation.

How is my personal data managed?

Your data is securely stored and handled in compliance with privacy laws, including GDPR. It is used solely for creating your wellness plan and is never shared without your consent. For further details see our privacy policy.

Is there a cancellation policy for the blood test?

If you need to change the date, time or cancel your blood test you must adhere to the cancellation policies. If you have selected the at home blood test, you must change or cancel your appointment at least 48 hours before it is due. If you move or cancel with less than 48 hours' notice, you will be charged £63 to rebook the appointment.

If you have selected the in clinic blood test, there is a 24 hour cancellation policy. If you want to change the date, time or cancel the appointment you must do this 24 hours before your booking or you will be charged.
